It still has to pass their constitutional courts apparently but at least it is a pretty clear signal...if only our lot would get some backbone, its a disgrace that the French should be leading the way!

I'm sure Cameron thinks he actually has balls, Indy, but he's no different to Blair who fucked us up royally by signing up to every single part of the cunting Human Rights Act, lining the Blair Witch's pockets, giving the judiciary too much say and shafting the rest of us right up the jacksy!

What a fucking cunt!

Hello Indy,

I think the thing I admire the French for most is for making such a massive fuss over the changes to their pension provision!

The changes to the French pension scheme (which I believe were passed by their government today against a backdrop of furious anger) would see the state pension age in France rise from 60 to 62. Bear in mind that they also work on average a 35 hour week, typically over four days, and have more bank holidays than we do in the UK.

Now, their basic rate of tax is much higher than ours, but then they have world class health and social services, so perhaps that eases the social burden somewhat. Retirement at 62 would still see their citizens have some of the best pension provision in Europe, but to their credit, they have fought the proposed changes and in serious numbers. Here in the UK our provision is set to rise to 67, 68 and potentially higher. And we do nothing!

Perhaps we could do with absorbing a bit of the Dunquerque spirit from our Gallic cousins...

OS, the French have a long tradition of standing up to their governments and saying NON! For which I have often admired them (even when strikes/protests have left me the wrong side of the channel)we Brits have NEVER stood up to ours which really is just a proof of our real status as economic slaves doing the bidding of our 'masters'!
