They do it down here at the coast (I live in Spain). They send pregnant women (or they may have pillows stuffed up there, I don't know), round tables where tourists sit.

The "pregnant" woman leaves a biro and a note on your table. The note says "I am pregnant and have no money, give me some please"...

They come back a few minutes later to see if you have "bought" the biro.

They also sit outside Aldi's and Lidl's here at the trolley park waiting for your euro.

I ignore all of them. Nobody gets a penny from me anymore.

I too have to ignore them even in the smaller market towns here in Wales...there is something badly out of whack in our governments reaction to this sort of thing...I am not hopeful of a resolution anytime soon.

Perhaps if we were allowed to kick a person who begs it would get better, in our welfare state no one needs to beg....
